Accessibility FAQ

At FET-FISK, we want your dining experience to reflect the same thought and intention we put into our food and drinks. We see the accessibility and inclusivity of our space as an ongoing process.

We invite your voice and appreciate your patience as we navigate the potential barriers posed by our built environment, curated atmosphere, and restaurant industry standards.  We will continue to update this page with pertinent information.

Description of facilities

Our restaurant is composed of two main areas: lounge and dining room.

The lounge is boisterous, yet intimate; aesthetically harkening the beloved dive bars that helped raise us and feel like a second home. Cozy booth seating, a wrap-around bar, and small bistro tables lining a banquet offer many nooks and crannies for grabbing a quick drink or enjoying a fully coursed meal.

Our dining room is bigger and brighter; classic and elegant with a more spacious floor plan, brass candelabras, and bigger tables to accommodate larger parties.

Reservations are recommended but walk-in’s are always welcome.

Parking

Street parking is available on Liberty Avenue or surrounding side streets. The closest parking complex is located a block away on South Millvale Avenue - Mellon Parking Garage or West Penn Parking Complex.

Entrance

There is one step at our restaurant’s entrance. We have a portable, wooden ramp available upon request to provide wheelchair/walker access. There are two front doors, both open manually. Hosts and other restaurant staff are happy to help navigate our entrance and have been trained to do so.

Restaurant Mobility

There is a single step leading to two double doors at the main entrance of the restaurant, once inside there are no steps and the floor is level throughout the bar, dining room, and restrooms. Certain areas of the lounge and dining room are more spacious than others. We are working on a video walk-through of the space so that guests can make more informed opinions in regards to where they would like their reservation to be.

Seating

Our bar has stools without back support, the adjacent lounge area has chairs with back support.

Bathrooms

Our restaurant does not currently have an ADA accessible bathroom. Our bathrooms are gender neutral with signs indicating available fixtures on the outside of each door.

Lighting

The lighting in the bar is intentionally quite dark+red, the dining room is generally brighter, although still may feel noticeably dark depending on the weather and the time of day. Additional light sources are available and can be provided if requested.

Sound

Sound moves throughout the restaurant in a variety of different ways, and we are in the process of addressing+adding noise mitigation to the dining room. We make every effort in accommodating guests concerned with the noise level at their table, athough unfortunately we are not always able to move guests to a different table or different section of the restaurant due to pre-existing reservations. If you have specific questions+concerns about sound levels, we encourage you to reach out to us through email prior to making your reservation so that we are better able to assist you with planning which section of the restaurant and what time of dining will best suit your needs.

Food+Allergies

Our servers are trained to assist you in navigating any food related allergies or concerns. Every ingredient in each dish can not be specified through the abbreviated descriptions on the menu so please notify+clarify any allergies and dietary restrictions with your server directly.

Service animals

Service animals who are trained to perform a task that assist with a disability are always welcome.
